Herbal infused oils, salves and balms — slow-made from organic and wildcrafted plants

Six weeks of infusion, not six minutes of blending. That is why the oils come out this dark, and why they help this much.

Herbal oils, salves and dried botanicals arranged on a pale work surface

Nurtur Health makes herbal infused oils, salves, balms and body butters in Ontario, Canada. Every product begins as a six-week maceration of organic or responsibly wildcrafted plant material in organic olive or jojoba oil, using the alcohol-intermediary method. No synthetic preservatives, no fragrance oils, no colourants — the colour you see is the plant.

The method

Why it takes six weeks

Most "botanical" oils are a carrier oil with an essential oil stirred in. An infusion is a different thing entirely: the whole plant sits in the oil until the oil has taken what it can hold.

01
Forage and dry
Evergreens and St John's Wort gathered at peak potency in Muskoka; everything else organic.
02
Prime with alcohol
A small measure of ethanol sanitises the herb and opens the cell walls — the alcohol-intermediary method taught by Master Herbalist Kami McBride.
03
Macerate six weeks
Comfrey leaf to olive oil at 1:7, away from light, until the oil is opaque and dark green.
04
Press, bottle, date
Pressed by hand, blended with Canadian beeswax where a salve is called for, and labelled by batch.
