DIY Pumpkin Spice&Coffee Body Scrub Recipe

DIY Pumpkin Spice&Coffee Body Scrub Recipe

A pumpkin spice & coffee body scrub is a delightful and invigorating treat for your skin, especially during the fall season. This scrub is very easy to put together using the kitchen staples you already probably have at home. You can combine the dry ingredients with your favourite carrier oil (olive, sweet almond, apricot, avocado et.), but using an herbal infused oil will deliver extra skin softening and moisturizing benefits and deeply nourish the skin. I prefer calendula flower infused olive oil for applying on the thicker body skin and calendula flower infused jojoba oil for the thinner face skin.

I’ve used brown sugar as my natural exfoliant to help remove dead skin cells and promote smoother, softer skin. If you have sensitive skin, it’s better to grind the sugar first (I use Nutri-Bullet)  - otherwise, it might be too abrasive for your skin. The gentle nature of sugar makes it suitable even for delicate areas, such as the lips, where harsher exfoliants may cause irritation. If you want more of the buffing effect on thicker body skin, you can use sea salt instead of sugar (or a mix of both).

The combination of coffee grounds and pumpkin spice brings exfoliation and a warm, aromatic experience. Coffee, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger act as natural exfoliants, helping to slough off dead skin cells and promote skin renewal.  This  will result in a healthy, rosy complexion and assist in the delivery of nutrients to skin cells.

Calendula oil is known for its gentle nature, making it suitable for various skin types, including sensitive skin. Adding calendula infused herbal oil takes this scrub to the next level! With its emollient properties, it’ll help deeply moisturize, and alleviate dry or chapped skin.

To lift your spirits as you exfoliate dry skin, try adding a drop of vanilla or clove essential oil.

Ingredients:

  • 4TB brown sugar
  • 2ts finely ground coffee beans
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • -1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 TB calendula infused oil (or any carrier oil)
  • 1 drop vanilla or clove essential oil (optional)

Grind sugar in a small food processor jar or spice grinder to a desired consistency. Transfer to a dry, clean bowl.

Add ground coffee beans, ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon and combine well.

Add calendula infused oil and incorporate well until it has wet sand consistency.

Add essential oils as desired. Mix again.

How to use it as a scrub:

Apply to damp skin in the shower or bath. Gently massage the body using small circular movements to activate blood circulation and remove dead skin. Keep for 1-2 minutes on the skin and then rinse. You may not need any moisturizer afterwards.

Warning: Oil can make surfaces slippery, so exercise caution.

You can pre-mix a larger batch of the scrub using all the ingredients, except the calendula oil. Keep the mix in a labeled, lidded container until you’re ready to apply the scrub. Add calendula oil just before use.

Enjoy this pumpkin spice & coffee body scrub for a rejuvenating and aromatic spa-like experience the comfort of your home!
