Homemade goji berry-pumpkin seed chocolates supercharged with adaptogenic herbs that add a healthy touch and taste incredible! Made in one pot, no special equipment (just candy molds) with endless possibilities for herbal add-ins to suit your health goals.
This is my favourite homemade chocolate treat recipe. It contains healthy fats, antioxidant rich chocolate, nourishing herbs and enzyme rich honey. It feels so good to know exactly what’s in your treats! Your friends and family can satisfy their sweet carving with high quality ingredients free of artificial sweeteners, fillers and additives.
These smooth and creamy chocolates also contain maca - a versatile nutrient-dense adaptogenic herb that helps the body adapt to life stressors. Adaptogens, typically a group of herbs and mushrooms, can easily be added to everything from smoothies to soups to teas and you guessed it - treats!
1 cup cacao butter
1/2 cup honey
1 cup cacao powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract or 1/2 teaspoon vanilla powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons maca powder
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
a pinch of salt
goji berries and crushed pumpkin seeds/pistachios for toppings
optional add-ins: mushroom powder, camu camu, cayenne, ashwagandha, amla, cardamom, collagen, protein powders, cacao nibs
Melt cacao butter in a double boiler, add honey and the remaining ingredients. Mix well, transfer into molds. Top with goji berries and crushed pumpkin seeds or pistachios. Keep refrigerated. Try to stop at one. 😉
Have you put herbs and chocolate in a recipe before? What would be your favourite chocolate add-ins and/or toppings?
